Disinfection is one barrier, not complete treatment

A disinfection system is intended to inactivate or control microorganisms; it does not remove hardness, salts, iron or suspended solids by itself. Feed water should therefore already meet the physical and chemical conditions required for the chosen disinfection method.

Define demand and contact conditions

Daily volume, peak draw, source, storage and required contact conditions influence equipment sizing. For chemical disinfection, concentration and residual control are important; for other technologies, the manufacturer’s operating envelope should be followed.

Verify operation rather than assuming it

A working pump or illuminated indicator does not prove the required disinfection outcome. Appropriate operational checks, residual measurement where applicable, and periodic microbiological testing should be part of the facility’s water-safety plan.
