Water testing

Use test results to define the treatment problem

A useful test scope reflects the source, intended use and suspected risks. Design-critical and health-related decisions should rely on appropriate methods and current applicable standards.

Examples published by DPHE

DPHE publishes water-quality parameters with Bangladesh standards and WHO guideline values. The examples below are reproduced as a practical reference; always verify the current applicable requirement for the intended use.

What to send with a report

  • Water source and location
  • Intended use
  • Approximate daily demand
  • Peak usage or operating hours
  • Any visible or operational problems

Parameters depend on the application

Groundwater

Arsenic, iron, manganese, hardness, TDS, pH and microbiological parameters may be relevant depending on source and intended use.

RO feed water

RO design can require broader information on dissolved salts, hardness, alkalinity, silica, iron, manganese and other fouling or scaling risks.

Wastewater

ETP or STP design usually needs parameters linked to hydraulic load, organic load, solids, pH, oil/grease and the specific wastewater source.
