Why stainless steel may be selected
Stainless steel is often used where corrosion resistance, cleanability, durability or process standards justify it. The grade, surface finish and fabrication quality should match the water chemistry and application; the word “stainless” alone does not define suitability.
Integrate treatment and fabrication
Vessels, pumps, membranes, instrumentation and piping should be laid out so welds, valves and instruments remain accessible. Good fabrication cannot compensate for an incorrect treatment process, so water chemistry and process design still come first.
Maintenance protects the investment
Even stainless systems need cleaning, passivation practices where appropriate, gasket inspection and attention to stagnant zones. Chloride exposure and incompatible chemicals can create corrosion risk, so operating and cleaning procedures should reflect the selected material grade.
