This article explains the treatment objective, the design information that matters and the operating checks that help keep the system practical after installation.
Check whether the unit actually regenerated
Empty salt, a blocked injector, failed brine draw or incorrect valve sequencing can prevent effective regeneration. Control settings and water meter operation should be checked before assuming the resin has failed.
Peak flow can exceed design capacity
A softener may produce acceptable water at normal flow but leak hardness during unusually high demand if service velocity is too high. Bypass valves or mixing arrangements can also allow untreated water into the outlet.
Resin can foul or lose capacity
Iron, suspended solids and some chemicals can reduce resin performance over time. Cleaning or resin replacement may be needed after the cause is identified. Any pretreatment deficiency should be corrected to prevent recurrence.
Need a treatment recommendation for your water?
Send the water source, intended use, approximate demand and any available test report. Waterwise Bangladesh can review the requirement and discuss an appropriate treatment approach.
