This article explains the treatment objective, the design information that matters and the operating checks that help keep the system practical after installation.
Product requirements define treatment
Food and beverage water may be used as an ingredient, for rinsing, ice, steam or equipment. Each use can have different quality requirements. Treatment should be aligned with the facility’s food-safety and process specifications.
Pretreatment protects membranes and flavour consistency
Source-water variation, hardness, chlorine, iron and organics can affect both RO operation and product characteristics. Pretreatment should be chosen from analysis, with activated carbon or softening used only when they address an identified need.
Hygienic storage matters after RO
RO permeate has reduced mineral content but can still be contaminated after treatment. Tank design, recirculation, sanitization, distribution materials and cleaning procedures are important where water directly affects food or beverage production.
Need a treatment recommendation for your water?
Send the water source, intended use, approximate demand and any available test report. Waterwise Bangladesh can review the requirement and discuss an appropriate treatment approach.
