This article explains the treatment objective, the design information that matters and the operating checks that help keep the system practical after installation.
Residential, commercial and industrial RO are different cost categories entirely
A small residential under-sink RO unit, a commercial RO system for a restaurant or hotel, and an industrial RO plant for a factory are fundamentally different scales of equipment with very different cost ranges — lumping them together under "RO plant price" produces a meaningless comparison. Cost should be discussed within the relevant category (residential, commercial or industrial) and against the specific capacity and application involved.
Capacity and recovery requirements
Larger capacity (measured in LPH — litres per hour, or similar throughput units) generally costs more, and the required recovery ratio (how much of the incoming water becomes usable product versus reject) can affect the membrane configuration and pretreatment needed, which in turn affects cost. A system needing to run at a higher recovery ratio on a difficult feed-water source generally costs more than a comparable system with more forgiving requirements.
Feed-water quality and required pretreatment
Feed water with high iron, high hardness, high turbidity or high fouling potential requires more extensive pretreatment (multimedia filtration, iron removal, antiscalant dosing, and similar stages) ahead of the RO membrane itself, which adds cost beyond the membrane skid price. A straightforward, low-fouling feed water requires comparatively less pretreatment investment for the same product-water target.
Membrane type, materials and automation
Membrane specification (standard versus higher-rejection or specialty membranes for specific applications), construction material (standard versus higher-grade materials for corrosive or specific process applications), and automation level (manual valves and gauges versus automated monitoring, dosing and control) all affect cost independent of raw capacity, and should be matched to the actual application requirement rather than defaulted to the highest or lowest available specification.
Installation, commissioning and after-sales scope
What is actually included in a quoted price — installation labour, commissioning, initial training, and the length and scope of any after-sales support — varies between suppliers and materially affects what a given price figure actually represents. Comparing total delivered scope, not just a headline equipment price, is the only way to meaningfully compare quotations between suppliers.
Getting an accurate figure for a specific project
Because so much depends on capacity, feed-water quality and application-specific requirements, we do not publish a fixed RO plant price — request a customised assessment with your actual water test results and capacity requirement so a quotation reflects your specific project rather than a number that may not apply to it.
