This article explains the treatment objective, the design information that matters and the operating checks that help keep the system practical after installation.
The vessel is part of a hydraulic system
FRP pressure vessels are commonly used for media filtration and ion-exchange applications. Vessel size should match service flow, media depth and backwash requirements. Choosing only by external dimensions can produce excessive velocity or poor media expansion.
Match the valve and distributor
Top-mount, side-mount and multiport arrangements use different internal distributors and piping. The valve must handle service and backwash flow without excessive pressure loss. Distributor condition is important because damaged internals can allow media migration.
Allow space for maintenance
A vessel needs enough clearance for valve service, media replacement and piping access. Floor loading, drainage and safe handling of large vessels should be considered before installation, especially where multiple units operate in parallel.
